About Evangelical Life Ministries

Evangelical Life Ministries (ELM) is a 501 c 3, non-profit Christian media company in Texas. The idea became reality already in 1985 as a result of prayerful planning of one of the members of the Board of Directors.

Evangelical Life Ministries (ELM) believes the Lutheran Church has a powerful soul saving and rescuing message, and the media marketplace should be used as a forum for bringing this message to others.  ELM is doing this now each Sunday night over station KKHT The Word, 100.7FM Houston from 7:00-8:00pm with the program entitled “Engaging Truth.” We will continue to use the technology of radio and the Internet to broadcast relevant winsome Christ-centered programs, and look for future ways to utilize technology to get the life saving message of Jesus Christ out into the world. ELM's Goal

The goal of the ELM’s Board of Directors and Media Team, is to find the most relevant and capable guests to articulate the truth of God’s Word in a culture that truly appears to be moving more and more from a strong relationship and trust in the living God and His Word, the Bible, to a trust in science and technology to solve our nation’s emotion and spiritual issues.

Desired Outcome

The outcome of our weekly programming is to draw the listener, either on the radio or through the Internet, into a closer relationship with Jesus Christ, so that he not only knows who he is but Whose he is. We will continue to do this by providing the most articulate and gifted Christian guests we can find.  We will interview authors of new Christian literature who are making an impact on the lives of hurting and struggling people.

That God’s Name be Glorified in the radio ministry is what we have been called to do.

Focus

Elm believes that the Lutheran Church has an incredible soul-saving message, and the media marketplace should be used to bring this message of God’s Holy Word to others. The focus is and will be, to use radio, the Internet, web-casting to bring the message of forgiveness and hope in Christ to others.  ELM will support those who desire to use the medium of broadcast technology to nurture other Christians across the globe.

Theme

“Christ in Media” - Using modern technology of radio broadcasting to reach along the rim of peoples life to find the crack, and when that is found, to fill it with the Balm of Gilead, the healing and hope of the message of Jesus Christ.”

Purpose

To encourage, support and encourage other Christians to use radio and Internet technology to meet the needs of hurting people with God’s Word.

Contributions

All contributions to ELM are tax deductible and receipts will be provided with each gift.  Evangelical Life Ministries is a 501c 3 non-profit media ministry.

ELM History

The media company was moved to Texas in 2006, and was given a new letter of determination by the IRS in 2008. It was thought then, as now, that Lutherans had lost their place in “media marketplace”, since Lutherans in 1924 were the first in Christian radio during the time of Walter A. Maier, broadcasting over KFUO AM, St. Louis. It literally took 10 years of searching the Christian radio market in Houston, to get KKHT The Word, 100.7FM to give us a time slot in 2007.  And since that time we have broadcast Truth Alive weekly (which is now called Engaging Truth) in the Name of Jesus Christ, highlighting ministries, Authors, Christian educational and care institutions in Texas and across the country.

We, the Board of Directors and ELM media team, know that we are a very small slice of the pie of the church’s ministry in bringing the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the lost and those who have lost their way. But we are also ambassadors of our Lord, commissioned to “go into all the world and preach the Gospel to the whole creation”, Mark 16:15. We are finding like many others in the broadcast industry, that there is stillrejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents.” Lk. 15:7. Our small but significant offerings in Houston might be a point of motivation for other Lutherans across Texas and the nation to do radio ministry in their areas.

To God be the glory.
